Fashion Designer, Lisa Hetherington (30), from Enniskillen is our first guest blogger!
Taking part in our new 'At Home With..' series, here the owner of alteration and design shop, 'Nor Lisa Fashion and Alterations', located at 6 East Bridge Street in town, gives us an insight into her eclectic style and how her professional passion for textures and patterns spills over into her home interiors styling.
1. Describe your home interiors style.
I would have to describe my home style as Eclectic, Rustic yet comfortable. I like to show expression through not only my fashion but also my home interiors, I love to mix and match our decor style with textures/patterns. I have a soft spot for organic pieces that are vintage or repurposed, pieces that are perfectly imperfect find a home in my house. I have a chronic pain condition called fibromyalgia, so not only does my home need to be comfortable but it also needs to have practicability.
2. Where and from whom do you find inspiration for your own home?
I mostly find inspiration from travel. I love to adventure as much as possible, I always make sure to pick up key pieces to bring back home. It’s lovely to be able to look around your house and be reminded of all the memories you have made. The most inspiring places I have been to for interiors would have to be the French Riveria and Morocco.
3. What is your favourite corner of your home at the moment and why?
I love my snug in the conservatory. It’s a lovely relaxing place just to lie cuddled up with a book and relax after a hard day. We have a Middle Eastern concept in this room which I always wanted to have when we purchased our own home.
4. Does your home interiors styling change with the Seasons or do you opt for pieces that carry you throughout the year?
I have different candles, ornaments, throws, cushions etc for hoildays that I swap out seasonally. I love autumn and have lots of lovely warm toned pieces that come out in October.
5. What are your three favourite pieces from Osborne & Co at the moment?
The over sized blue quilted top footstool really makes me want to rip everything out of my house and redecorate just to match it. The blue velvet cushion with gold foil print is both statement yet classic. Large statement lamps can really add drama and ambiance to a room, I am in love with the floral parrot print lamp currently in store.
6. What's your best home styling tip?!
Mixing textures and layering creates a visually interesting space. I love faux fur throws and large embroidered textured cushions. Also splurge on a high quality candle, a scent will really set the tone for a room.
